Raiderthon surpasses goal and raises over $58K for kids in Dayton!

The steering committee and morale captains reveal total raised!

Wright State University held its seventh Dance Marathon last Saturday, November 16th. In an impressive push with day of fundraising, they beat their goal, raising $58,056.75. Dayton Children’s is grateful for the exec team, advisers and students who were passionate and driven to dance to save kids! Here are some highlights from the event:

  • Participants signed up to dance for 15 hours in the Student Union. Fundraising took place since the end of last year’s event and culminated in Saturday’s event.
  • Miracle families came, shared stories and felt like rock stars! The vibe of the event was so much for for these families to come out and feel loved on and appreciated!
  • Garnered 27 external news stories! Stories ran on DDN, WHIO-TV, WDTN, DaytonCW, WKEF, WRGT as well as WSYX in Columbus.
  • Peer to Peer, especially Facebook fundraising allowed participants who had raised little to no money leading up to the event to bring in donations in a hurry, making a huge difference!
  • A few participants raised $1,000+!
  • Working with the athletic department, over $1,300 raised during the WSU Men’s Basketball game happening simultaneously.
  • Several participants volunteered to have their hair cut in an auction style on the stage! Hairstylists were on site to touch up and style afterward!
  • This makes the total raised since the event started in 2013 nearly $278,000.

Saturday was more of a celebration of a years worth of events and fundraising. This year’s exec board and advising team had great leadership, teamwork and organization. We are so proud to partner with the Raiderthon team and are already looking forward to 2020’s event! Believe it or not, you can register now!
