Speedway® is Helping Dayton Children’s Hospital Change Kids’ Health June 30 – July 2

Speedway®, a part of the 7-Eleven family of brands, is fueling miracles for kids and their families at Dayton Children’s, a member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, June 30th through July 2nd. It is important that member children’s hospitals have the support they need to help kids receive the best possible care.

This weekend, stop in your local Speedway store and donate to fuel miracles and change kids’ health. Your donation will make a difference in the community by raising funds for Dayton Children’s to improve medical treatments, equipment and facilities along with provide child life services that put kids’ and families’ minds at ease during difficult hospital stays. These funds allow Dayton Children’s to address the most challenging health issues today and prevent and prepare for those to come for our patients.

Patients like Killik and Vanessa. When Kilik was just 2-weeks-old, his newborn screening test indicated a positive result for cystic fibrosis (CF). Six years later, Vanessa followed in her big brother’s footsteps and tested positive for cystic fibrosis during her newborn screening. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease in which the body makes very thick, sticky mucus that causes problems in the lungs, pancreas and other organs.

Early on in their diagnosis, it was anticipated that Kilik and Vanessa would require a tune-up(a two-week hospital stay) every one to two years. As they have grown, it has evolved into a less frequent need, as they rely on an extensive maintenance of health regimen, greatly improved by the recent addition of the newest class of CF medications known as CFTR modifiers.

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive disease but because of new medications and treatment options, patients like Kilik and Vanessa can go longer between hospital stays and they are able to participate in sports with minimal difficulty. These treatment options are possible thanks to the support of our local community and amazing partners, like Speedway!

Speedway has been a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1984 and has raised more than $9,859,000 locally for Dayton Children’s Hospital. Their support has brought joy and healing to kids treated in the hospital in many ways and they understand children’s hospitals are on the frontlines when it comes to protecting the health of future generations. This is why Speedway, their generous customers, vendor partners and associates raise critical funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to foster the business owners, professional drivers and leaders of tomorrow.

Thanks to you and Speedway in the Dayton are for helping change kids’ health to change the future at Dayton Children’s.
