Tatum Kershner: Age 15 – Springboro, OH
After an ATV accident, Tatum had serious injuries, but her helmet saved her life! She received expert care at Dayton Children’s Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center for a deep cut on her back and fractures of her spine and pelvis. With determination and the support of her family and care team, Tatum is back to the sports and activities she loves!
Fun fact: Tatum wants to be a nurse!
Rudy Kash: Age 13 – Oakwood, OH
Born with a large birthmark that posed cancer risks, Rudy had many surgeries to remove it at another hospital. By the time he was 6, his mom realized the “fix” was causing mobility issues and knew it needed to be addressed. After a long search across the country, they met Dr. Mancho at Dayton Children’s, discovering what mattered most—a true partner in Rudy’s care. After 46+ surgeries, Rudy wears his scars like a badge of honor and is living life to the fullest.
Fun fact: Rudy wants to be a plastic surgeon when he grows up!
Jacob Thornton : Age 10 – Kettering, OH
Jacob was born with cystic fibrosis (CF), a genetic disorder that affects his lungs and digestive system. After overcoming life-threatening surgeries as an infant and thanks to the support of his care team, he’s thriving today. With proactive action plans for early intervention, vest technology to help clear his airways, and breakthrough medication treatment, Jacob is staying healthy and enjoying an active life – proving CF won’t hold him back!

Charlotte Caraway: Age 10 – Cedarville, OH
At just 14 months old, Charlotte was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer – Wilms Tumor. She bravely endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and surgery, overcoming every challenge with fierce determination. Now cancer-free for seven years, Charlotte is an active and joyful 10-year-old who loves sports and embraces her nickname, ‘Fierce Charlotte,’ inspiring everyone around her with her strength and spirit.
