College Organizations Create Change. Meet Lauren.

Raiderthon: November 19, 2016!

Meet Lauren Duke, Executive Director of Wright State Raiderthon. With Raiderthon only a little over 3 weeks away, we wanted to get the inside scoop from the leader of the organization that has raised over $100,000 since 2013 to help the children and families at Dayton Children’s Hospital. We asked Lauren a few questions listed below.

Lauren,

How long have you participated in the Dance Marathon movement?

“This will be my 3rd year participating in Wright State Raiderthon.”

What do you love most about Dance Marathon?

“EVERYTHING. I love seeing how it changes the students involved. Dance Marathon develops students into leaders – it is amazing. The experiences that Dance Marathon gives those involved prepares them for the professional world like no other organization can. It is basically like running a non-profit organization. It has been such a valuable experience for me.

What does FTK mean to you?

“Goodness! FTK, to me, obviously means For The Kids. Lately in this position, I have been feeling stressed and overwhelmed with the amount of time it takes to be fully invested in my college career and being a leader of a campus organization, but FTK is what it is all about. In the end, it’s not about how much you raise, who all is involved, or how well your morale dance is. It is about making the kids at Dayton Children’s feel like Rock-stars and making a positive difference in their lives and the lives of their families.”

What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining Raiderthon?

“ABSOLUTELY JOIN. It doesn’t matter if you are an engineering major, or a dance major. Joining Raiderthon is beyond rewarding and will truly change your life for the better.”

JOIN THE MOVEMENT.
